WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul and Independent School
District No. 625 presently provide a comprehensive health and
welfare insurance program for the employees and retirees of
the City of Saint Paul and Independent School District No. 625
and their dependents, as provided for under Council File 231269;
and,
WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul and Independent School
District No. 625 presently cover a part of the payment of the
cost of this plan for retirees and dependents; and
WHEREAS, This coverage is not provided for some employees
of Independent School District No, 625 who retired prior to
June 1, 1965, and their dependents ; and
WHEREAS, The present medical and hospital carriers have
been contacted in regard to this problem and have agreed to
accept all retirees of Independent School District No. 625 who
retired prior to June 1, 1965, and their dependents into the
present coverage; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That all former employees of the Independent
School District No. 625 o the City of Saint Paul Board of
Education who were eligib�e for age 65 retirement and who did
retire at age 65 or later age, prior to June 1, 1965, or who
are under age 65 and elig�.ble for the early retiree health
insurance coverage set foxth in Council File 261347 approved by
the City Council May 23, 1973, are hereby allowed to participate
in the present medical an�. hospitalization group health plan
subject to the same provisions and limitations imposed upon
retirees who are presentl� participating in this coverage; and,

FURTHER RESOLVED, That the dependents of the above
described retirees are h�ereby allowed to participate in the
present medical and hosplitalization group health plan subject
to the same provisions and limitations imposed upon retirees
who are presently participating in this coverage; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED,IThat said retirees and their dependents
will be accepted without! evidence of insurability during an
enrollment period with an effective date to be established by
the City Health and Welf�re Committee; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, That the office of the City Clerk is
instructed to send a copy of this Resolution to Minnesota
Indemnity, Inc, and B1ue Cross-Blue Shield of Minnesota.

2he Board of Education o#' Independent School District No. 625 pasaed a
re�olution to provide hospital and medical insurance benefits for their
retirees.
Inasmuch a� the Council of the City of Saint Pa.ul determines who are to be
e13.gib]e under ovr Group Insurance Pro�ram, cae have prepared a, Council
Re�olution to inaugurate the bene�its which will provide the coverages wh3ch
the School Board wish to provide. The entire cost of this pxogram will be
ftii.nded by the Independent School District N'o. 625.
The Health �nnd Welfare Insurance Advisory Comm:i,t�tee at their Nov�riber 13th
meeting unani�ously recommen3ed. that this resolutian be passed by the City
Cauncil.

a�aproval, kindly see that it gets to the City Council for treir consideration
and action.

and their dependents; and
�'VHEREAS, the District presently covers the payment for the cost of this plan for
retirees and dependents; and
WHEREAS, this coverage is nat currently provided for aIl teachers and all civil
service employees who retired prior to June 1, 1965; and '
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the Board of Education of Independent School
District Noo 625 to establish at this time a uniform system of eligibility for such
coverage for all eligible retired employees of Independent School District No, 625; and
�YHEREAS, the present medical and hospital carriers have been contacted in regard
to this problem and have agreed to accept all retirees who retired f rom the services
of Independent School District No. 625 and their dependents into the present cover-
age; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVID, that all �ormer employees of the Independent 8chool District No. 625
are eligible for the regular retiree coverages and their dependents are hereby
allowed to participate i.n the present medical and hospitalization group health plans
�� subject to the same provisions and limitations imposed upon retirees who are presently
participating in this coverage; and be it
FUR.THER RESOLVF,D, that said retirees who are not at this time participating in the
present medical and hospitali.zation group health plans, and their dependents, will be
accepted without evidence of insurability; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVID, that the Assistant Clerk of the Board of Education is instructed
to send certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate officials of the -
Minnesota Indemnity Inc., Blue Cross, Blue Shield of Minnesota Inc., Group Health Plan,
and the Clerk of �the City o� Saint Paul.
