Dear Mr. Mattson:
{ Please be assued that the $4800.00 authorized for the St.
Paul Humane Society will not be used to pay the salarias of
any of its officers or directors. As a matter of fact, the
officers and directors of the .St. Paul Humane Society serve -
on a gratis basis, '
The money will be used to defraya the expense of accepting,
impounding for seven days and caring for the City of 5t.
Paul's stray cats, and an accurate report of the number of
stray cats involved is attached to this letter. Out-of-
pocket expens to the St. Paul Humane Society for this
service is actually more than the $4800.00 allocated for
' these stray cats. '
Sincerely yours, - -
