4�lHEREAS, The clerical workers in the City Hall and Courthouse have initiated and
planned, with the cooperation of the University of Minnesota's Division of Con-
tinuing Education for Women, a speciali "Brown Bag School"; and,
WHEREAS, The purpose of the Brown Bag School is to provide expanded educational
opportunities for downtown workers, specifically to offer four University courses
which can be taken for academic credit; and
WHEREAS, The Brown Bag School is scheduled to begin September 10, 197�4, and will be
held in Room 707 of City Hall during �he noon hour so that interested persons can
participate on their regular lunch time; and
I�HEREAS, The original purpose of this school was to allow women to build confidence
so that they could take leadership rol s and become more effective employees, a
benefit to management as well as to th�e workers themseives; and
I�HEREAS, Participation in the Brown �Ba�g School has now been extended to both men
and women working in the downtown are�; therefore, be it
� RESOLVED, That the Saint Paui City �ouncil €cammends Ms. Mary Shea and the-C�ity
and County Clerical Employees affili�a�ed with Local 8, Council 91, for initiating
this Brown Bag School and encouragingldowntown workers to participate; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Saint PaullCity Council expresses sincere appreciation
to representatives of the Universityr �f Minnesota's Division of Continuing Educa-
tion for 4�omen for their cooperation; �and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Saint Paul City Council goes on record as fully endorsing
the Brown Bag School program and wishing all participants success.
