Presented By Re£erred To Committee: WHEREAS, under the provisions contained in 2000 Laws ch. 492, sec 14, subd 4, the City of Saint Paul has been given authoriry by the State of Minnesota to build new permanent e�ibits at the Minnesota Children's Museum, and WHEREAS, under the provisions contained in 2000 Laws ch. 492, sec 14, subd 4, the State of Minnesota has allocated $500,000 to be given to the City as a grant to assist in the construction of new permanent e�ibits at the Minnesota Cluldren's Museum,and WHEREAS, these permanent e�ibits will include a Rooftop Garden complete with water and sand play azeas, a program gazebo, a tree house and a prograinmable art space, and WHEREAS, the City currently leases the Minnesota Children's Museum building to The Children's Museum, Inc., a Minnesota non-profit corporation, for programuiing as a children's museum in accardance with state law, and WHEREAS, The Children's Museum, Inc, has raised $750,000 in private funds to complete the Rooftop Gazden project, now, therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby accepts the $500,000 grant for construction of new permanent e�ibits at the Minnesota Children's Museum in accordance with 2000 Laws Ch. 492, 5ec 14, Subd. 4, and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby autl�orizes the City to enter into a Grant Agreement and Disbursement Agreement with the State of Minnesota in association with the aforementioned grant. The City owns the Museum as a public facility and, therefore, must accept and administer the grant. The resolution authorizes the acceptance of the grant, the contracts needed to admiister the grant, and the budget amendment necessary to account for the grant. The Children's Museum, Inc. has raised $750,000 in private funds to complete the project. The Ciry is making no direct financial contribution to the project.
