WHEREAS the City Council expresses its intent and desire by Council
Resolution Number 262842 passed on December 28, 1973, which resolution de-
clares that the amount of funds provided by an ad valorem tax on all taxable
real and personal property within the City of Saint Paul foir the purpose of
mandatory garbage .and rubbish collection will not be used in the year 1974
for this purpose; and
WHEREAS Council Resolution Number 262842 requests that the amount of
funds to be provided by an ad valorem tax on all taxable property thereby
be reduced in the sum of $2,359,340.68; and
WHEREAS said resolution requests that the appropriate County officials
take all steps necessary to accomplish said reduction to thle end result that
all tax statements reflect this reduction and that said amount not be levied
against the tax rolls of the City of Saint Paul ; and
WHEREAS the County Attorney has verbally advised the City Attorney that
he will not authorize the County Auditor to reduce said tax levy in the
amount of $2,359.340.68 as tax levy for the City of Saint Paul is already
spread; and

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the City Attorney be instructed by the
City Council to proceed forthwith to prepare all necessary Council Resolutior�s,
ordinances and other documents necessary to accomplish this tax levy reduction
for the year 1974 in the amount of $2,359,340.68;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if appropriate County officials refuse to
reduce the tax levy against all real and personal property in the City of
Saint Paul by the amount of $2,359,340.68 for any reason thdt St. Paul City
Attorney be instructed by the City Council to proceed fo�thwith to move the
