As required by the contract, renewal rates for the coming year are being filed prior to September 1, 1974. Community rates for the 1975 calendar year have been established for all Group Health Plan members. Those rates, to be effective January 1, 1975 for members from the City of St. Paul and Independent School District No. 625, are $24.19 for an employee and $46.27 for dependent coverage. The above rates include Group Health's basic community rate for 1975 of $21.90 for employee coverage and $38.85 for dependent coverage plus $2.29 added to the employee rate and $7.42 added to the dependent rate for the following benefits which are in addition to those provided for in the community rate : 1) psychiatric medical services; 2) kidney dialysis and transplant benefits; 3) prescription drug benefit; 4)ex- tended hospital care benefit; 5) continuation of dependent eligibility to age 25. Most of the rate change for 1975 is related to an increase in Group Health's community rate for employee coverage. This increase is a reflection of the recently legislated changes involving single ma.ternity benefits plus alcohol and drug rehabilitation benefits. These changes substantially altered the utilization of services by members under employee coverage thereby increasi.ng the cost of their benefits. An attachment is enclosed showing the numb�rs of services rendered to City of St. Paul members plus statistical information about the group membership and a comparison to Group Health`s total membership.
