Presented By Referred To Committee: Date Out of Committee By Date �n Ozdinance Amending Chapter 22 of the Saint Paul Administrative Code pertaining to the levying and collection of Special Assessments for Local Improve- ments. THE COUNCIL OF THE CTTY OF SA�NT P1�iUL DOES ORDAIN: Section 1, That Section 22. 04 of the Saint Paul Administrative Code be and is hereby amended to read as follows: 22. 04 -- All assessments shall bear interest at the rate of 6� per annum. The first install- ment shall be payable on the first Monday in January next following the adoption of the assessment unless the assessment is adopted too late to permit its collection during the following year. To the first installment shall be added interest on the entire assessment through December 31 of the year in which the first installment is payable. To each sub- sequent installment shall be added interest for one year on all unpaid installments. Any owner of property which is assessed may pay to the Finance Department during the 30 day period following the adoption and publication of the assessment roll the whole or any lesser amount of the assessment with no interest being charged. Follow�,ng such transmittal, all installments of assessments, together with interest thereon, shall be collected by the County Department of Property Taxation and pazd over to the City in the same manner as are other muni,cipal taxes� and shall be subject to the sazne penalt�es, costs and interest charges prescribed by state law as are other municipal taxes, Tn the event the total assessment i,s pxepai.d be�ore any installments have been extended by the County onto the next annual tax la.sts, interest shall be cT�arged on the entire balance from the date of adoption of the assessment roll to the date of prepayment. Section 3. That Section 22, 06 of the Saint Paul Administrative Code be and is hexeby amended to read as follows: 22. 06 - Tnterest � appeals. Tn the event an assessment as to any piece of property in a public improvement is appealed fr�n in the � manner set forth in Section 14. 01, 4 of the City Charter� and not set aside by the Court, the date from which interest shall begin to run shall be the same as governs those asseSSments in the same public improvement not appealed from. Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (3�) days from and after a,ts passage� approval and publication.
