1 WI�REAS, The S aint Paul Public Library has been selected along with other library systems nationwide as a
recipient of funds from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, U.S. Library Program, and

3 WHEREAS, Funds will be used to enhance the computing environment within the libraries and to create a
computer laboratory for the public at the Rice Street Sranch Libtazy, and

5 WHEI2EAS, The Library needs to begjn this program in 2001, and

7 WIIEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the City Charter, does certify that there are funds
8 of $213,231 available for appropriation in excess of those estimated in the 2001 budget; and
