RESOLUTION ACCEPTING GRANTS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF TRADE ANll
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL
FOR THE REMEDIATION OF THE U.S. BANK OPERATIONS CENTER SITE
WHEREAS, the City Council on Apri125, 2001, by Resolutions Number O1-414 and 01-415 authorized the
Director of the Deparhnent of Planning and Economic Development to apply to the Department of Trade and
Economic Development and the Metropolitan Council for grants to remediate the U.S. Bank Operations
Center site; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Trade and Economic Development approved a$1,989,083 grant from its
Contasnination Cleanup Grant Program, and the Metropolitan Council approved a$799,685 grant from the
Tax Base Revitalization account of its Livable Communities Program; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Bank Operations Center project, which involves developing a new 350,000 square
foot office building and adjoining parking ramp on a highly contaminated site, will not go forward without
remediating the contamination; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does hereby
certify that $2,788,768 in funds are available for appropriation in excess of those estimated in the 2001
budget and recommends the following changes to the 2001 budget:
