Regarding: Two Council Resolutions trans f3'r monies

capital improvement projects prefio s r oved by City Council:
1) Linwood Park Ancillary Project
2) Hidden Falls Park Project
Source: Richard E. Schroeder, Budget Director
Prepared by Gregory N. Blees for:
Gerald Prill, Department of Community Services
Background: The Linwood Park Ancillary Project request for $18,294.18
additional monies is needed to construct two tennis courts and
related site work. The major portion of the site improvements
proposed for Linwood Park was contracted in 1973, but the location
of where the tennis courts should be constructed became a neighbor-
hood controversy and was deleted from the contract. Recently,
the Division of Parks and Recreation resolved the controversy
with the Linwood community and now wishes to complete the
approved project.
As part of the Hidden Falls Acquisition Project, the City had
to condemn property owned by Laura Ciesinski. The City filed
a condemnation petition on October 7, 1974, and is now entitled
to take possession of the property after June 1, 1975. By
condemning the Ciesinski property, the City is required to
pay relocation costs and the 1975 real estate taxes totaling
$15,260.26. The Housing and Redevelopment Authority identified
the relocation payment required as $15,000.00 and Minnesota
State Statute 272.68 provides that the condemning authority
must pay the 1975 taxes due, $260.26.
The CIB Committee recommended funding approval of both requests
at its June 20, 1975, meeting.
The Budget Director has approved the requested funding, the
Director of Finance and Management Services, has verified
the availability of funds, and the City Attorney has approved
the form of the resolution.
Action Requested: Mayor's approval and transmittal to City Council.
