'EPARTMENT GITY OF SAINT PAIIL � Fil� NO. �y� BLUE -�_AAYOR u cil esolution , Presented By c Referred To mmi e Out of Committee By � WHEREAS, it has become apparent that real estate taxes in the City of Saint Paul have reached a level thatr is becoming injurious to the future growth and development of the city; and WHEREAS, it is incumbent upon elected offic�als and others responsible for making policy and decisions to seelt alternatives and solutions that will ease this burden on individual taxpayers; and WHEREAS, initial efforts in this direction l�ave been made through the support of actions by the Minnesota Legislature and the public position of the mayor to present to the City Council a budget that will not require an increase in prop�rty taxes to city residents; Now, Therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council does hereby concur with the position expressed by the mayor, tY�at the 1976 City Budget be one which will not require an increase in the city tax levy; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council will take cognizance of this policy when establishing priorities and spend�ng for 1976 city operations and programs; and be it FINALLY RESOLVED, that this resolution be transmitted to the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners and the School Board of Independent School District 625 with the request tMat those bodies take similar action in order to fully protect City of Saint Paul real estate taxpayers from further tax increases. The resolution was put in the form of a motion and carried unanimously. The Finance Committee hereby returns it to the City Clerk for necessary action.
