WHEREAS, in 1974 the Legislature of the State of Minnesota did
amend the Metropolitan Transit Act by directing that the Metropolitan
Transit Commission should provide transit services at no cost during
certain hours of the day to all persons under the age of eighteen; and
WHEREAS, the acts of such persons in using : said privileges has
tended to intimidate others and placed senior citizens and fare
paying passengers at such a disadvantage that at times they are
unable to use the facilities themselves; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul urges
the Minnesota State Legislature to allow the Metropolitan Transit
Commission to have discretion in continuing or discontinuing trans-
portation at no cost to those persons under the age of eighteen,
depending upon the circumstances prevailing on the various bus lines
involved; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul �
urges the Minnesota State Legislature to allow the Metropolitan
Transit Commission to have flexibility and discretion in designating
what hours of the day transit services may be provided at no cost to
those persons under the age of eighteen if the Commission determines
that it should continue the services.
