01-836Council File # � �—� 3�a RESOLUTION Presented Referred To Committee Date i RESOLUTION COMT�II"I"I`ING START-UP FiJNDlI3G 2 TO THE SAINT PAUL SKATE PARK BOOSTER CLUB 4 WHEREAS, the Pazks and Recreation Department and the Pazks and Recreation Commission have begun exploring 5 the potential of developing two skate park facilities to provide a safe and enjoyable reereational experience for 6 skateboazding, which is currently not a�ailable anywhere in Saint Paul, and 8 WHEREAS, in response to constituent interest expressed over many years, the City Council has supported the Parks 9 and Recreation Department in establishing the Saint Pau1 Youth Skate Park Task Force and its Saint Pau1 Skate Park 10 Booster Club; and i i`w ncicEfiS, tne Saint raui �icate Yark iiooster Ciub wiIl work with the Parks and Recreation Department to begin 12 the process of raising money to build such a facility; and 13 WI3REAS, the Saint Paul Skate Park Booster Club and the Saint Paul Youth Skate Park Task Force have tentatively 14 set September 15 for their first public fundraising event; therefore be it 15 RESOLVED, that the City Council will provide $750 in start-up costs for the Skate Park Booster Club to cover the 16 costs of presenting and publicizing its first fundraising event tentatively scheduled for September 15, 2001.
