Human Resources was asked to study a new position that would perform night supervision and operation of the Police Department
unpound lot. The position oversees the night slrift operation including scheduling and supervising Impound Lot stafF and maintaining
Impound Lot securiry. Our study determined that a new class titled Impound LotNight Supervisor be creazed.

Performs responsible supervisory and administrative work m managing the Saint Paul Police Department
Impound Lot night operations; and performs related duties as required.
S�rnision Received:
Works under the general supervision of the Impound Lot Supervisor or Police Commander in charge of
Impound LotOperations.
Supervision Exercised:
Within the unit, exercises administrative and teclmical supervision over impound lot petsonnel.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all the duties performed by atl positions in this class.
Supervises impound lotto include suspending, assigning work, rewazding, disciplining, directing and
adjusting greivances of employees. Supervises night operation including emergencies.
Reviews work and conducts performance appraisals of assigned staff.
Oversees the operations including the receip� the storage, the release, the aucrion inventory, and the salvage
of 9mpouaded vehicles; reviews released invoices to ensure proper procedures aze followed.
Supervises night operation for staffmg and emergencies, requests scheduling changes and other personnei
transactions.
Maintains various records and files to ensure accurate reporting and disposition of vehicles and money as a
result of the impounding, storage, aucrioning, and release of vehicles coming into custody at night.
Maintains lot security at night including acceptance, retention and disposition of property. Prepares
documentation necessary for towing and releasing procedures, and billing and payment procedures.
May operate a tow truck, forklift, and plow truck and perform physicai activity associated with auction
preparadoa and lot security maintenance.
Assists in operations relating to snow emergency and tfie snow lot
Works on-ca1124 hours a day due to emergencies, scheduling, or staffing problems and equipment faiivre.

Must possess a valid Minnesata Class D driver's license, or equivalent out of-state driver's license, with no
suspensions or revocations within the two-yeaz period prior to the date of appoiutment (suspensions for
pazking-related offenses excluded).

Impound Lot night operations; and performs related duties as required.

Works under the general supervision of the Impound Lot Supervisor or Police Commander in charge of
Impound LotOperations.
Supervision Exercised:
Within the unit, exercises administrative and teclmical supervision over impound lot petsonnel.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED

Supervises impound lotto include suspending, assigning work, rewazding, disciplining, directing and
adjusting greivances of employees. Supervises night operation including emergencies.
Reviews work and conducts performance appraisals of assigned staff.
Oversees the operations including the receip� the storage, the release, the aucrion inventory, and the salvage
of 9mpouaded vehicles; reviews released invoices to ensure proper procedures aze followed.
Supervises night operation for staffmg and emergencies, requests scheduling changes and other personnei
transactions.
Maintains various records and files to ensure accurate reporting and disposition of vehicles and money as a
result of the impounding, storage, aucrioning, and release of vehicles coming into custody at night.
Maintains lot security at night including acceptance, retention and disposition of property. Prepares
documentation necessary for towing and releasing procedures, and billing and payment procedures.
May operate a tow truck, forklift, and plow truck and perform physicai activity associated with auction
preparadoa and lot security maintenance.
Assists in operations relating to snow emergency and tfie snow lot
Works on-ca1124 hours a day due to emergencies, scheduling, or staffing problems and equipment faiivre.

Must possess a valid Minnesata Class D driver's license, or equivalent out of-state driver's license, with no
suspensions or revocations within the two-yeaz period prior to the date of appoiutment (suspensions for
pazking-related offenses excluded).
