WHEREAS, Saint Paul has been a leader in the field of
providing innovative community-based education; and
WHEREAS, a great need for community-based higher education
still exists in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul is one of the few rema.ining large
, communities in the State which lacks a state-supported
coc�ununity college; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Saint Paul would bene�it from
easy access to a system that provided college degree courses
as well as the opportunity to improve basic skills; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the City Council of the City of Saint
Paul request of the State Legislature of the State of Minnesota -
that some type of community-based higher education be funded
for ths �ity of Saint Paul; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Council of the City of
Saint Paul go on record as supporting Legislative Bill - Senate
File No. 752, which would authorize the establishment of and
appropriate money for such community-based higher education
extension centers in the City of Saint Paul
