O � -111- NOTES OF TI� PROPERTY CODE ENFORCEMENT MEETING Tuesday, July 24, 2001 Room 330 Courthouse Gerry Strathman, Legislative Hearing Officer STAFF PRESENT: Mike Kalis, Code Enforcement The meeting was called to order at 133 p.m. 819 Hollv Avenue (Laid over from 6-5-01) Gerry Strathman laid over to the November 20, 2001, Property Code Enforcement meeting. A suit has been filed in court. This matter will be continued after the legal dispute is resolved. 123 Acker 5treet East Katherine Nahl and Charles R. Nahl appeared. Ms. Nahl stated Mr. Nahl is the homeowner. The properiy is condemned, and she is requesting that Mr. Nahl be able to reside there until Public Housing is able to find a place for him. He has no where else to go. The house has been sold, the purchase agreement has been signed, but the closing has not happened yet. Mr. Strathman asked how long it will take for Mr. Nahl to find another place to live. Hopefixlly, Ms. Nahl responded, the longest it will take is 60 days. Mike Kalis sTated he has no problem with Mr. Nahl living there as long as no children move back in the property. There were nine children under the age of eight living at this properry. The hot water heater was not properly vented. Cazbon monoxide was coming back into the house. A licensed contractor is suppose to be doing the work on the properly. Mr. Strathman asked is that the only life safety issue. Mr. Kalis responded there are nineteen other violafions, but the hot water heater is the worst issue. If he is allowed to live there, Mr. Strathman asked, is he in a dangerous situation. Mr. Kalis responded no. Ms. Nahl stated the house is well vented. When the water heater was installed, the venting pipe was not at the right angle. There is so much ventilation in this house. The house is not air tight, and the basement window is open. The water heater has been there for ten years. Mr. Nahl is the only person living there. Mr. Nahl stated he has lived in the house for 37 years. Mr. Strathman asked is the vent fixed.
