But would like to have a public hearing before the Saint Paul City CounciL I have two issues with the compliance check on Aprit 25, 2001: 1. On Apri124, 2001 at appro�mately noon we were a victim of an armed robbery at 326 N. Snelling. On the following day at about noon a credit union about a block from our locaHon was robbed. Ofcourse the pollce in investigating the robbery at the credit union came into our location to see if anyone had seen anything After these ta�o events Lt seems like a perfect time to do a compliance check_ My employees were having a big problem with the robbery on the 24th then when the police told them about the other robbery they were more on edge. My employee asked to see identiHcation but failed to properly verify age. Given the circumstances azound our buslness during these two days I befleve that anyone could have made this same mistake. 2. My second jssue is with the method of the mmpliance check. I know that we aze responsible for veriTying the age on the ID. In my experience underage people do not show an ID. Since it is the only way to know they aze underage. By showing an ID iYs the only way they may get into trouble. So, In our circumstance with our employees be9ng nervous about the robbery and knowing underage people do not present an ID they are an ie sale. The basis for the recommendation is as follows: On Apri125, 2001, a tobacco compliance check was conducted at the Snelling I-94 Citgo located at 326 Saelling Avenue in Saint Paul. A sixteen year old female entered the market and asked to buy cigarettes. She was asked to show her identification, and did so. It correctly stated her date of birth. The clerk nevertheless sold her a package of Newport cigarettes. Sale of tobacco to an underage person is a violation of Minn. Stat. §609.85 and Saint Since this is a first violation, the licensing office will recommend a$200.00 fine. At this time you have three options on how to proceed: If you do not dispute the above facts and do not wish to have a public hearing, you �vill need to pay the recommended fine for this violation. If this is your choice, you should make payment directly to the Office of License, Inspections and Environxnental Protection, Room 300 Lowry Professional Building, 350 Saint Peter Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55102. The letter should be directed to Ms. Christine Rozek. Payment of the fine will be considered to be a waiver of the hearing to which you are entitled. At this time you have three options on how to proceed: If you do not dispute the above facts and do not wish to have a public hearing, you �vill need to pay the recommended fine for this violation. On Apri124, 2001 at appro�mately noon we were a victim of an armed robbery at 326 N. Snelling. On the following day at about noon a credit union about a block from our locaHon was robbed. My second jssue is with the method of the mmpliance check. I know that we aze responsible for veriTying the age on the ID. In my experience underage people do not show an ID. Since it is the only way to know they aze underage. By showing an ID iYs the only way they may get into trouble. The basis for the recommendation is as follows: On Apri125, 2001, a tobacco compliance check was conducted at the Snelling I-94 Citgo located at 326 Saelling Avenue in Saint Paul. A sixteen year old female entered the market and asked to buy cigarettes. She was asked to show her identification, and did so. It correctly stated her date of birth. The clerk nevertheless sold her a package of Newport cigarettes. Sale of tobacco to an underage person is a violation of Minn. Stat. §609.85 and Saint Since this is a first violation, the licensing office will recommend a$200.00 fine. At this time you have three options on how to proceed: If you do not dispute the above facts and do not wish to have a public hearing, you �vill need to pay the recommended fine for this violation. If this is your choice, you should make payment directly to the Office of License, Inspections and Environxnental Protection, Room 300 Lowry Professional Building, 350 Saint Peter Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55102. The letter should be directed to Ms. Christine Rozek. Payment of the fine will be considered to be a waiver of the hearing to which you are entitled.
