On April 25, 1991, the Rosenthal Addition Plat was approved at the Maxson Steel site. This
Plat included a condition that the property owner upon vacation of Atwater and Mackubin, whic
intersect the site, dedicated a 25-foot'wide parcel of land along Como Avenue for a landscape
green strip. In subsequent City Council actions, the requirement of the dedication was never
imposed. Also, PED and Public Works staff agree that the dedication is no longer required
, The advantage of negating, wai_ving, and releasing the requirement is that the Port Authority
: will be able to own and maiatain the 25-foot wide parcel as a landscaped green strip, which
will releive the City of Saint Paul of that duty.
None

Dear Brian:

Enclosed for submission to the City Council at its meeting on July 11, 2001 is a resolution of the
City Council waiving and releasing a requirement contained in a City Council resolution approved
April 25, 1991 for a re-plat of the property requested by the then owner at the Maxson Steei site
that a 25 foot wide parcel of land along Como Avenue be dedicated as a landscaped green strip.
In a subsequent City Council action approving street vacations, which was to be the trigger for the
dedication, the City Council did not require that the 25-foot strip be dedicated to the City.
Also, we have had many discussions with staff from PED and Public Works who have indicated
that this dedication is no long necessary since the Port Authority wiil be owning and maintaining the
25-foot parcel for a landscaped green buffer as part of the redevelopment of the Great Northern
Business Center, Phase I also known as the Maxson Steel site.
Aiso enclosetl is a Green Sheet.
