Whereas, The Forestry Division of the Department of Coumaunity Services is
responsible for conducting the Dutch elm disease control program in the City of
St. Paul; and
Whereas, The dead or dying elm trees on park property are breeding sites
for elm bark beetles, and constitute a threat to the healthy elm trees throughout
the city; and
Whereas, The number of dead and dying elm trees in the city exceeds the
estimated loss with the resultant additional cost of remo�val estimated at
$18,000.00; and
Whereas, There are insufficient budgeted funds in the 1974 Dutch E1m
disease control budget to pay for the removal of the additional trees.
Therefore, Be It Resolved, That $18,000.00 be made available from the
Dutch elm disease reserve fund for the above� stated purpose.
