The purpose of the attachments are to give the Chief of Police the authority
to regulate the type oF parking permitted in the area adjacent to the Police
Building at 101 East lOth Street.
Actually, this is one-half of the original discussion for this request. The first
half was an amendment deleting the words, "Commissioner of Public Safety"
and insert in lieu thereof, "Chief of Police." That Ordinance, 15905, was
approvecdi by the Mayor on November 5, 1975.
These amendments are both necessary so that a proper administration of the
parking lot can occur. There are but 39 spaces available, and it is the intent
of the amendment to give the Chief of Police the aut:ority he needs to maximize
the use of those spaces.
I refer you, for background material, to a memo dated September 30, 1975, from
Richard H. Rowan to Thomas J. Kelley.
Sincerely,
R. H. Rowan, Chief of Police
