WHEREAS the St. Pau1 Central girls basketball team,
with a 14-3 overall record and an eleven-game winning streak
during their regular season, advanced to �he Minnesota State
High School League' s C1ass AA girls basketball tournament; and
WHEREAS the St. Pau1 Central girls basketball team, once
having gained the tournament, proceeded to defeat the Wadena
and Austin teams in semi-final tournament games; and
WHEREAS the St. Paul Central girls basketball team won
a dramatic 49-47 victory over Benilde-St. Margar�t ' s team in
the final tournament game; and
WHEREAS by such victory the St. P�ul Central girls
basketball team won the first Class AA girls state basketball
championship;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of St. Paul hereby congratulates the Minnesota State
Class AA girls basketball champions, the St. Pau1 Central
Minuteu�n; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council commends
the St. Paul Central Minutem�n on their outstanding achievement
in winning the State High School 'League 's first girls basketball
tournament and wishes the� continued success in the future.
