Th City Council by resolution C.F. 266766 authorized the sale of the
re estate owned by the City of Saint Paul and described as: All of
Lo s 8 through 15, Block 67, Dayton and Irvine's Addition to Saint Paul.
Th s property had previously been vacated by the City Council, and the
1 d was authorized to be sold on the basis of obtaining bid proposals.
In accordance with Chapter 87A of the Saint Paul Legislative Code, the
ad ertisement for sealed bids was published for two successive weeks,
an bids were opened on Wednesday, Maxch 10, 1976, at 2:00 o'clock P.M.
On bid was submitted. The offer to purchase was made by United Hospitals
In orporated., which owns its present hospital.,facilities adjacent to the
1 d advertised for sa1e. Attached to this report, please find the written
pr osal of United Hospitals, Inc., dated March 10, 1.976.
It 's the recoamiendation of the undersigned, comprising the City Land
C 'ttee, that the City Council awaxd the sale of this real property to
Un' ed Hospitals, Inc., for the bid price of $212,000.00. Chapter 87A of
th Legislative Code, settin� forth the procedures for selling real
pr erty by means of bid proposals, requires that the Committee on Lands
sub 't a report to the City Council and that the City Council, prior to
mak'ng an award, publish a notice of hearing in the officialCity newspaper
an also, in a newspaper of general circulation within the City, and that
the Council, at the hearing, may then either reject or awaxd the sale of
the property.
We ecommend that the City Council establish a date for public hearing
for the purpose of awa.rding the sale of the subject real property to
Uni ed Hospitals, Inc., for the price of �212,000.00, to be used for the
p oses as set forth in their proposal of March 10, �976, and that the
Cit Council d.irect the City Clerk to publish the notice in the Lega1 I,ed.ger
and the Saint Pau1 Dispatch-Pioneer Press prior to such hearing. Attached
ple se find proposed form of notice and proposed resolution which the City
C cil may consider for adoption at the date of public hearing.
