Mayor June 6, 2001 John Loban, Chair Neighborhood STAR Board 823 Portland Avenue Saint Paul, MN 55104 Dear Mr. Loban: This is a follow up to our telephone conversation regazding the City CounciP s request to allocate an additional $350,000 to the Neighborhood Investment Initiative Grant Program (NIIGP). The source of funding for this budget amendment will be unbudgeted 2001 STAR revenues. Eligible projects must meet the NIIGP guidelines. As you may recall, the program was initiated in 1997 when Mayor Coleman proposed it. The funding level was $875,000. Funding was renewed in 2000 and 2001 at $700,000 per year. The proposed amendment, to add $350,000 divided equally among the seven council districts, will fund the program at $1,050,000. Because the fund source is revenues that aze in excess of those contained in the adopted 2001 STAR budget, this proposal should not have an effect upon the 2001 STAR budget and program.
