1 VJI�REAS, Tony's P'��a, a Mumesota-based company since it opened in 1970, has made children and families a
2 top priority. The company generously commits resowces to enhancing the quality of family life through prograuis
3 including Stand far Children, wluch works in communities azound the nation to organize a powerful grassroots voice
4 to ensure all children have the opportunity to grow up healthy, educated, and in a safe environment; and,
5 WHEREAS, Tony's Pizza has developed a booklet called Tony's T'vne: Recipes to Work It Out, which teaches
6 children and parents how to resolve conflicts together by learning how to better evaluate problems, take
7 responsibility, follow tules, and respect each other. The booklet offers helpful suggestions to pazents and children
8 about how to strengthen their relationships; and,
9 WIIEREAS, In cooperation with the Saint Paul Police Deparhnent, Tony's Pizza is also sponsoring the personal
10 identification kits for children program at this yeaz's A Taste of Minnesota. The actions of Tony's Pizza strongly
11 support the company's words about making families a top priority; and,
12 WI IEREAS, The free personal identification kits for children will be presented at A Taste of Minnesota from noon
13 to 4 pm. June 30 through July 4. The kits will include photographs and fingerprints of children along with blood
14 type and hair samples for DNA testing; and
15 WHEREAS, The Saint Paul City Council recognizes that our children are the future of Saint Paul. We believe that
16 investing in children and families today is necessary in order to keep our community strong. And we aze proud to
17 share our commitment with Tony's Pizza; now,
18 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Saint Paul City Council that the city reaffirms its commitment to children
19 and families by declaring June 20, 2001 to be:
