The City of St. Paul, Division of Parks and Recreation, provides and oversees a variety of recreational activities,
including speciai events. The �nter Carnival Softbail on Ice Tournament has been a popular annual event for
recreational softbail players for more than 20 years. The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 3 and Sunday,
February 4, 200f, provided the City of St. Paul holds Ramsey County and the City of Roseviile harmless reiated to the
management of this event.' ,
i�DVANTAGESIFAPPAOVED: � �
The City will be altowed to use McCarron's Lake and the adjaCent park area and parking lot for the event. We have the
opportunity to work cooperatively with local businesses and other government agencies to keep the event at its most
popular tocation, McCarron's Lake. The event at McCarro�'s was very well received and very successful in 2000 and
we look forward to an equaliy enjoyabie event for participants and spectators in 2007 .

OISADVAOITAGES IF NOT PPPROVFD
Nearly 100 teams participated in this event at McCarron's in 2000. Lake Phalen, the only other suitabte site, is aiready
being used for ice harvesting and the Winter Carnivai Car Races February 3& 4. lt is impaCted by the King Boreas Ski
Race and the Sleigh & Cutter Parade on earlier weekends. This leaves McCarron's as not only the ideal location, but the
onfy available loca6on.
