WHEREAS, Chapter 5.02 of the City Cha.rter provides that
the Council may appoint special counsel to the City Attorney
upon his request; and il
WHEREAS� Chapter 74 of the Legislative Code requires an !
attorney to act as chairma.n and hearing officer of a panel of �
Huma.n Rights Commission members assembled pursuant to Chapter ,
74 of the Legislative Code to hear discrimination cases; now, i
therefore, be it I,
RESOLVED� That the Council hereby consents to the City I
Attorney' s request and approves the appointment of Charles H.
Williams, Jr. , attorney at law, as special counsel and
hearing officer in a certain discrimination case entitled �
"Donald Lewis, Director, St. Paul Department of Human Rights,
ex rel. Peter Olivier, vs. Metropolitan Transit Commission�"
and sets his compensation for services performed at $40.00
per hour; his fees being payable by and from the Department
of Human Rights.
