WHEREAS� the Mayor has submitted, for the advice and
consent of the Council, xj.is appointment of Harriet Lansing
as City Attorney of the City of Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has taken this appointment �
under advisement prior to giving its consent and, in the interim, ,
the Mayor has proposed the appointment of Jerome J. Segal as
Acting City Attorney to serve until such time as the Council
ahall act on the Mayor' s appointment, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Couneil of the City of Sa•int Paul
does hereby consent to and approves the appointment .by the
Mayor of Assistant City Attorney Jerome J. Segal as aeting
City Attorney, effective , June 1, 1g'76, to perform the duties
and responsibilities of Acting City Attorney from such time
and until the Mayor' s appointmen.t of a City Attorney shall ha ve

To the Honorable Council
of the City of Saint Paul :
According to the Charter, the City Council is required to
advise on and consent to the appointment of various city
officers . The Charter provides that the City Attorney be
appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council, and
that he serve at the pleasure of the Mayor. '
For the past two and one-half months , Jerome J. Segal has
been acting City Attorney, and it is my desire that he con-
tinue to serve the City in that capacity while the City
Council is considering my appointment to that post.
Therefore , I submit for your consideration a resolution
approving my appointment of Jerome J. Segal to serve as
Acting City Attorney, effective June 1, 1976, to continue
in that post until the Council shall confirm and ratify
my appointment in accordance with the provisions of the
Charter.
