WHEREAS, The Independent School District #625 has constructed the Marshall-Webster Elementary '
School complex and deems it necessary to provide a play area for childr2n attending school,
and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul's Parks and Recreation Plan prepared jointly by the Department of
Community Services and the Office of City Planning identifies the need to develop a community
recreation facility at the Marshall-'r�ebster School Site to provide the surrounding neighbor-
hood with a recreation program, now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That the Saint Paul City Council does hereby approve of the following
Marshall-Webster joint project agreement:
1) The City of Saint Paul shall be responsible for the acquisition, relocation and clearing
of the eastern two-thirds of the Marshall-Webster Site and the title will rest with
the City.
2) Independent School District #625 agrees to pay $105,000 toward the cost incurred by
the City in the acquisition, relocation and clearing of the site. Said money shall
be payable to the City on or about July 1, 1977.
3) Independent School District #625 shall be responsible �or planning, designing, and �
development of the joint-use recreation area (such joint use being to the benefit of
the community and in accord with the use of Community Development funds) with the
advice of the community and the City Department of Community Services.
4) At the time that Independent School District #625 enters into�a,�nstruction contract
for the development of the site, the City agrees to pay $105,000 ��o�a�ra the cost of
that development; and the Independent School District #625 shall bc�res;pQ�sible for
the balance of the development costs.
5) The use, operation, and maintenance of the completed Marshall-Webster facility will
be subject to future City Council and 5chool Board joint agreement.
