WHEREAS, The bridge which caxries SELBY AVEN�E over the tracks of the
Milwaukee Railroad and the Short Line Roa.d. was d�ed sever�ly by fire on ,�_
October 14, 1976, requiring that the bridge be clo�ed to traffic, and
WI�REAS, The resolution of a decision whether $o repa3r, rehabilitate
or reconstruct saa.d bridge involved many proposals, i�eighborhood. meetings
and reports by the Department of Planning and_Economic Development and the
Department of Public Works, and
WI�REAS, It is now the recommendation of the A�ayor and the report of
the Planning Division to repair the bridge as necessary to allow it to be
reopened to traffic as it was prior to the fire, now therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Director of Public Works is directed to proceed with
preparation of plans and to carry out work with City forces as necessary to
repair the bridge to such condition as it was prior to the fire, and be it
ftiirther
�' RESOLVED, That the estima.ted costs of $76,100, to repair the bridge, be
charged to the P.I.R. Fund and this fund to be reimbursed by funds borrowed
from the 1978 P.I.A. Fund and any recoveries realized fram insurance claims to be
credited to 1978 Public Tmprovement Aid Fund as reimbursement. "
