WHEREAS, it is appropriate and desirable to change the title and Class Speci.fications for the title of Clerk IV; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended in 5ection 6 thereof, by striking out the title of Clerk IV from Grade 24 under tlze heading "Clerical" Group, and by substituting in lieu thereof the title of Clerical Supervisor; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Civi.l Service Rules be further amended by striking from Section 49 the Class Speci.fications for tlie title of Clerk IV and substituting in lieu thereof, in proper alphabetical order, the attached Class Specifications for the title of CLERICAL SUPERVISOR. General Statement of Duties: Performs supervisory work involving the pl"anning, organizing and directing of clerical work; performs expert clerical work; and performs related duties as required. Supervision Received: Works under the general guidance and direction of a division or department head. Supervision Exercised: Exercises within a unit, division or department general technical and administrative supervision directly over lower level clerical workers. ' TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in this class. Plans, assigns and reviews the work of a clerical operation engaged in the routine typing and processing of records, reports, correspondence and accounts. Participates in the selection and training of clerical employees. Schedules vacations, overtime, time off, rest periods and makes necessary work adjustments. Performs highly complex and responsible clerical duties requiring a complete knowledge of the procedures and practices of the department. Interprets policy and provides technical assistance to subordinates. Supplies technical information or policy interpretation in response to inquiries and complaints where a complete knowledge of departmental methods and procedures is necessary. Compiles and maintains records, manuals and files of departmental procedures, policies and information. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Working knowledge of work rules and union agreements. Working knowledge of technical aspects of the work. Thorough knowledge of departmental policies, rules, regulations, functions, procedures and organization. Thorough knowledge of raodern office practices and procedures. Some ability to organize information for reports. Working ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Working ability to evaluate characteristics of the unit and its members. Working ability to establish and maintain working relationship with super- visors, subordinates and the public. Considerable ability to determine priorities, plan and coordinate clerical work.
