WHEREAS, The Joint City Hall and Court House Committee has
determined that the windows in the City Hall and Court House must
be replaced and bids for such replacement were requested through
the Saint Paul Purchasing Office; and
WHEREAS, The cost of installing the windows is estimated to
be about $960,000 and the County of Ramsey has received a Federal
Public Works grant in an amount not to exceed $500,000 to be used
to pay a portion of the costs of the window replacements; and
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 374. 18 and
Section 3. 12, Chapter 435, Laws of Minnesota for 1974, the County
of Ramsey and the City of Saint Paul are obligated to pay equally
the expenses for the repair and maintenance of the City Hall and
Court House; and
WHEREAS, The City Council, by previous actions, has appropriated
the sum of $500,000 in the City Budgets for the purpose of paying
the City' s one-half share of the replacement costs of the windows
in the City Hall and Court House; and
WHEREAS , By the terms of the Federal Public Works grant
Ramsey County must be the entity that awards the contract for the
window replacement, and the City will reimburse or pay to Ramsey
County the City' s share of the expenses as they are incurred; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Tha� the Council of the City of Saint Paul does
hereby direct the appropriate City officials to remit to Ramsey
. County an amount not to exceed $500,000 to meet th2 financial
obligations incurred by the County for the window replacements,
and to advance such sums to the County to meet the City' s obli-
gations to pay one-half of the cost of such window replacements.
