�IHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul , in accordance with
Ordinance No. 15358, and following the public hearing held on March .l8, 1976, did adopt
a Resolution, Council File 266925 establishing the level of tree maintenance service to
be performed in the City of Saint Paul , and the estimated amount of service charges to be
levied against benefited property, the work that has been performed in 1976, .and the
charges to be collected with the regular taxes in 1978; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Community Services has performed the approved tree
maintenance work and submitted its report together with the total cost of tree maintenance
in the amount of $531,375.06; and
WHEREAS, the City Council , by Resolution, Council File No. 269837, determined
that the City shall pay the sum of $265,687.53 of the tree maintenance costs from
available funds, and that the remaining amount of $265,687.53 shall be assessed against
benefited properties, and further resolved that a public hearing be held in the Council
Chambers on October 25, 1977, for the purpose of adopting the service charges against
all benefited properties; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul did hold a public hearing on
October 25, 1977, for this purpose, and, having heard all interested parties, does
hereby adopt the following service charges in accordance with Chapter 14 of the City
Charter and said Ordinance No. 15358; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby adopt and
levy service charges as a special assessment against thos�e properties lying within the
boundaries of the 1976 Benefited Districts, described as follows:
1. Hamline from Pierce Butler south to University; University west
to Snelling; Snelling north to Charles; Charles west to Aldine;
Aldine north to Thomas; Thomas west to Fairview; Fairview north
to Pierce Butler Road; Pierce Butler Road east to Hamline.

FINALLY RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a
certified copy of this Resolution to the Ramsey County Auditor so that the service
charges levied herein shall be extended on the proper tax lists of the County and
collected in 1978 along with current taxes, the said service charges to be payable in
a single installment.

DIVISION OF ASSESSMENTS AND VALUATIONS

Honorable Council President and
Members of the City Council
In compliance with Ordinance No. 15358, Council File No. 260889, effective
May 14, 1973, the Department of Finance and Management Servicea does hereby
inform the City Council that the total estimated cost of aervices performed
during 1976 for TREE MAINTENANCE, to be charged to the Forestry Fund, is
$531,375.06, as reported by the Department of Community Services.
It is propoaed to aasesa $265,687.53 against benefited properties, with the
total costs to be financed as follows:
City Contribution $265,687.53
Assessments $265,687.53
Total cost for 1976 Tree Maintenance $531,375.06
Attached for Council consideration is a Resolution to determine the total
cost for tree maintenance service, the amount and rates to be assessed, and
fixing a date for public hearing, at which time the Council shall consider
adopting and levying the service charge.
