RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint
P�ul hereby approves the reappointment, by the Mayor,
of George Smith, 911 Aurora, and Gordon Clauson, 705
East Hawthorne, and the appointment of Marquita Finley,
294 Laurel, and Ken Osvold, 130 Virginia, to the Human
Rights Commission for three-year terms to expire October
9, 1980; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of
Saint Paul hereby approves the appointment, by the Mayor,
of Carol Connolly, 1384 Summit Avenue, to the Human Rights
Commission to fill the unexpired term o� Rev. William D.
Young, which term expires October 9, 1979; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVID, that the Council approves the
appointme�t, by the Mayor, of Ora Lee Patterson to serve
as Chair of the said Human Rights Commission for a term
to expire June 6, 1978.

Dear President Sylvester and Council Members:
The attached Council Resolution contains the names of my nominees
for the existing vacancies on the Human Rights Commission.
Six positions are presently vacant. Four occur as a result of
term expiration. A fifth is occasioned by the recent resignation
of Reverend William Young. The last vacancy to be filled, the
office of Commission Chair, is also a result of Reverend Young' s
leaving the Commission.
I nominate the following individuals to full three-year terms on
the Commission:
Mr. George Smith
911 Aurora Avenue
Mr. Gordon Clauson
705 East Hawthorne Avenue
Mr. Ken Osvold
130 Virginia Street
Ms. Marquita Finley
294 Laurel Avenue
Smith and Clauson are presently Commission members and are being
reappointed. Osvold and Finley wi11 be joining the Commission as
new members.
I nominate the following individual to fill the remaining two-year
unexpired term of Reverend Young:
Ms. Carol Connolly
1382 Summit Avenue
Connolly will also be joining the Commission as a new member.

Finally, I nominate the followa.ng individua� to the office of
Commission Chair for a term co-terminus with my term of office,
ending June 6, 1978:
Mrs. Ora Lee Patterson
962 West Central Avenue
Patterson is presently a member of the Commission and will be
stepping into the Chair.
All of these citizens are highly qualified for the positions for
which they have been nominated. I commend them to you and ask your
speedy consideration of these nominations.
Before closing, I would like to let you know of the valuable service
rendered to the Commission by Mr. Ernest Greene, who will be leaving
the Commission after nearly nine years of continuous service, the
maximum allowed by law. I hope in the near future to officially
recognize Mr. Greene' s service to Saint Paul, and I know that you
will want to join me in giving him a profound thank you for his long
and valuable service.
