Supervision Received: Works under the general technical and adminis- trative supervision of a section or bureau head. Supervision Exercised: Exercises general technical and administrative supervision over survey personnel and technicians. TYPICAL DUTIE5 PERFORMED The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in this class. Assists the Chief Surveyor in work planning, layout and assignments. Supervises and instructs survey personnel. " Establishes priorities and schedules and coordinates survey projects. Performs research to update historical survey notes. Testifies in court as a professional surveyor for the City. Prepares and signs legal survey plats. Assists the surveyors on the more difficult problems. Performs related duties as required. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Thorough knowledge of property and real estate laws. Considerable knowledge of general engineering technology. Thorough skill in operation and application of surveying practices. Considerable skill in applying mathematics to surveying problems. Considerable ability to supervise work crew leaders. Considerable ability to communicate effectively with the public, with other governmental agencies and with citizen groups. Considerable ability to plan, supervise and evaluate the work of technical employees. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Two years of college in en�ineering or equivalent and four years' experience in surveying, at least two years of which must have been as a Surveyor, or equivalent; or college graduation in civil engineering.
