RESOLUTION
CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA

WF�REAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota fmds:
1.) The cooperative efforts of many partners have allowed the City of Saint Paul and the
RiverCentre Authoriry to secure the contributions of Mr. Harry Belafonte.
2.) Mr. Belafonte is an articulate, honorable man who has given greatly of his own life to
improve the lives of others here, and across the globe.
3.) The contributions of Mr. Belafonte to the Civil Rights movement are legendary and were
critical to the work of great leaders like Martin Luther King and Roy Wilkins.
4.) The synergy beiween the construction of a new Roy Wilkins Center and its relationship
with the arts and Civil Rights is recognized by this City Council.
5.) The City Council is proud to participate in honoring not only Roy Wilkins by supporting
this project, but also by supporting the efforts of Mr. Belafonte to draw attention to this
important project.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Councii join with Mayor Norm
Coleman, the Saint Paul RiverCentre Authority and dozens of other organizations, institutions
and individuals in thanking Mr. Harry Belafonte for his efforts on behalf of our City to honor the
great contributions of NIr. Roy Wilkins.
