Supervision Received: Works under the general administrative and technical supervision of a department head or an elected official. Supervision Exercised: None. TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED The listed examples may not include duties performed by all positions in this class. Takes and transcribes complex and extensive dictation; attends meetings and hearings and records, edits and indexes minutes of proceedings. Types complex or technical materials which require independent judgement and ability to arrange, expand, segregate or tabulate. Receives visitors, answers and screens telephone ca11s, determines importance and priority of business and supplies information-where a thorough knowledge of current departmental decisions and policies is necessary. Receives, opens and reads incoming mail, calling to the supervisor's attention important or high priority items; composes routine corres- pondence including letters of inquiry and acknowledgement; proof reads and signs out-going correspondence as authorized by supervisor. Schedules appointments, arranges conferences and meetings; prepares agenda, notifies participants and assembles and distributes necessary materials; makes travel arrangements. Compiles and assembles information for financial, statistical and program reports and statements; organizes, compiles and maintains records or files of a complex and confidential nature. Requests, reviews and summarizes reports or other necessary information. Provides guidance and technical assistance to clerical staff regarding department operations, policies and procedures. KNOWLEDGE5, SKILLS AND ABILITIES �'�rorking knowledge of city government's structure and organization. Go�siderable knowledge of the policies, procedures and services of the department.
