DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs highly responsible supervisory
work with analysis, design and development of computer systems;
analyzes work flow including methods, documents, work forms, ledgers
and reports and converts them to detailed logical flow charts for coding
into computer language; and performs related work as assigned.
Supervision Received: Works under the direction of the Manager of Data
Processing.
Supervision Exercised: Directs the work of systems analysts and other
subordinate per sonnel.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.
Directs the work flow charts pertaining to data processing problems in the
development of feasibility recommendations and for use in the develop-
ment of logical flow charts.
Meets with personnel of user departments to resolve questions of program
intent , output requirements and input data.
I?evises logical procedures to solve problems by electronic data processing.
Analyzes existing logical difficulties and revises procedures involved if
necessary.
Develops logic and procedures to provide more efficient machine operations.
Analyzes alternative means of deriving input data to select more feasible
and economical method.
Directs and reviews the conversion of detailed, logical flow charts to
language processable by computer.
Analyzes, reviews and programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt
to new requirements.
Trains new employees.
.5upervises the work of systems analysts.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIE5
Considerable knowledge of the principles and techniques of systems ana'ysis.
Considerable knowledge of high level programming languages and data base
� management techniques.
Considerable knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of data processing
hardware and software.
Ability to work effectively with both EDP and non-EDP personnel.
;,�' Ability to canduct sound feasibility studies for the application of data process-
ing programs. - �.�,,,
Ability to utilize the various proceduresr"a;n�=te�`�-iniques of planning, fore-
casting and modeling.
Ability to utilize supervisory techniques.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
College graduation with major course work in computer science, accounting,
statistics or related fields and three years' experience as a Systems
Analyst III or equivalent.
