WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Mayor and the desire
of the Council of the City of Saint Paul to proceed quickly with
the necessary acquisition and relocation of property in the
Martin Luther King area of District 8 in order to provide a site
for the construction of a light manufacturing facility by Control
Data Corporation; and
WHEREAS, there are presently no Community Development Grant
funds which can be used for the acquisition and relocation costs;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has
assured the Mayor that the City may use the funds currently on
account for repayment of the outstanding Neighborhood Development
Program (NDP) loan as funds for the acquisition and relocation
necessary to assemble the Control Data site with the understanding
that the funds will be replaced with an equal amount of Community
Development Block Grant funds and that appropriate NDP plan
revision will be submitted to HUD by the City; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul does
hereby approve the transfer of $840, 000 from the CD Year II Special
Acquisition and Relocation fund to the NDP loan repayment account;
and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul
does hereby approve the use of the $840, 000 presently existing in
the NDP loan repayment account for the acquisition and relocation , �
necessary to assemble a site for Control Data.
