THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. '`7607, approved February 13, 1935,
as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking ota.t the
specifications for Keypunch Operator I, Keypun.ch Operator II, and Keypunch
Ope rator III .�

DATA ENTRY OPERATOR I
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs entry level clerical work operating
keypunch machine and/or entering coded data directly into a computer
terminal system, following specific predetermined sequences; and per-
forms related duties as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the immediate supervision of a lead
worker or unit supervisor.
Supervision Exercised: None
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.

Punches coded data onto tabulating cards using alpha-numeric keypunch
machines and enters data into sys�toem via CRT keyboard.
Operates verifier, card sorter, repvrducer and interpreter.
Codes data to be keypunched from source document s, files records and
documents.
KNOW LEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Some skill in the operation of a keypunch and verifier.
5ome ability to follow written and oral instructions.
NIINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a f�fty hour course in keypunching or six months' experience
as a Data Entry Operator or equivalent.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs intermediate level clerical work
operating keypunch machines and/or entering coded data into a computer
terminal system; and performs related work as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the close supervision of a lead worker
or unit supervisor.
Supervision Exercised: None
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.
Punches coded data onto tabulating cards using alpha-numeric keypunch
machines and/or enters data into systern via CRT keyboard.
Operates verifier, card sorter, reproducer and interpreter.
Codes data to be keypunched from source documents; files records and
documents.
Reviews source documents for completeness and accuracy; corrects errors
in coded data.
Reports machine malfunctions and needed repairs.
KNOW LEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Some ability to unde��stand arid follow oral and writter� instructions.
Working skill in the operation of keypunch and verifier.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years' experience as a Data Entry Operator I or equivalent.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs skilled clerical work operating
keypunch machines and/or entering coded data into a computer terminal
system, and performs related duties as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the general technical and administra-
tive supervision of the unit or division head.
Supervision Exercised: Exercises within the unit immediate supervision
directly over entry level work and close supervision directly over inter-
mediate level work.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.

Reviews and logs incoming materials, determines priorities and schedules
workload within the framework of established departmental deadlines.
Assigns work to da�Ea entry operators, monitors progress of work and re-
views work for accuracy and completeness.
Trains and instructs new employees in keypunch and CRT terminal opera-
tion and procedures.
Reviews difficult or unusual assignments with keypunch opera roors.
Operates keypunch CRT keyboard, verifier, card sorter, repo�ducer and
interpreter.
Maintains production and control records; prepares reports as requested.

PURpOSE AND RATIONALE FOR THIS ACTIONo
This Ordi.na.n.ce replaces the titles and apecifications for Keypuneh 4perator I, Keypunch
Operator II a.nd. Keypunch Operator III with the titles a.nd specifications for Data Entry
Operator I, Data Entry Operator II and Data Entry Operator IJI.
These speci.fications have been written in the new format which includes "supervision
received, supervision exercised, and the knowledge, skills, a.nd abilities" required of
� the positions. Although the "examples of work performed" have been rewritten, there
have not been any cha.nges in the basic responsibilities of these positions. The minimum
qualifications have been reviewed by the Minimum Quali.fications Comrnittee.
