Committee :
11 WHEREAS, the Public Housing Agency of the Ciry of Saint Paul (PHA) has provided
12 funding through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development Drug
13 Elimination Program for the McDonough Recreation Center Teen Council and Youth
14 Activities program since 1993; and
is

WHEREAS, the PHA has applied for and was awarded a 2001 Drug Elimination
Program Grant which includes funding for the Teen Council and Youth Activities Program at
McDonough Recreation Center; and
1 s WHEREAS, PHA has made an additional $2,500 from the Urban Development Drug
19 Elimination Program available in 2001 to the Division of Parks and Recreation to provide
2 o swim lesson scholarships for youth who are PHA residents and participate in activities at
21 McDonough Recreation Center by means of a separate agreement identified as Contract No.
22 01080 which it has forwarded to the proper city officials for signature; and
23 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council on February 14, 2001 passed Resolution Ol-
.24 141 which authorized the proper city officials to enter into PHA Contract No. 01080 to accept
25 and expend the $2,500 in funding from the Saint Paul Public Housing Agency for swim lesson
26 scholazships for youth who reside at the McDonough Homes and participate in activities at
27 McDonough Recreation Center; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to section 10.07.1 of the Ciry charter does certify
that there are available for funds of $2,500 in excess of those estimated in the 2001 budget;
and
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends the following changes to the 2001 budget:
