WHEREAS there is a need to develop long—range plans for all
public facilities in order to insure their timely development to
meet the needs of Saint Paul's citizens, overall coordination with
other public activities, and in order to minimize costs and avoid
unnecessary duplication of facilities; and
WHEREAS the need for long—range planning should consider both
School Districts and City activities and facilities in order to be
�aningful; and
WHEREAS such �oint planning ha.s not taken place on any sig—
nificant scale in the past; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the St. Paul City Council hereby endorses the
concept of joint long-range planning between the School District
and the City; and further be it ,

RESOLVED, that the St. Paul City Council hereby recommends
the adoption of resolutions by the School Board and City Council
to direct the appropriate staff to work together to develop a
long—range plan for the joint use of City and School District
facilities.
