WHEREAS, Z'he City of Saint Paul has overwhelmingly demonstrated
its enthusiasm for the game of hockey and contributed generously and
enthusiastically to the formation and perpetuation of amateur and
professional teams; and
WHEREAS, It is in the interests of the citizens of the City of
Saint Paul, Minneapolis, and surrounding suburban communities to sup-
port amateur and professional hockey teams; and
WHEREAS, The Minnesota North Stars have during 1976 played an
exhibition game in the City of Saint Paul and met with enthusfeastic
support and response from Saint Paul hockey fans; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the City of Saint Paul hereby encourages the Minnesota
North Stars to become a truly metropolitan team by playing one-half
of their -regular season home games at the Sai�t Paul Civic Center,
the showplace of the Upper Midwest; and be i�t_ -,
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Minnesota North Stars and the Civic
Center Authority are encouraged to enter into immediate negotiations
to arrange for the North Stars ' playing one-half of their home
hockey games in Saint Paul; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, Z'h.at the citizens of the entire metropolitan
area a�e requested to demonstrate their enthusiastic support for this
new concept of making the Minnesota North Stars a truly metropolitan
professional ice hockey team.
