1 WHEREAS, Merle Harris has shown exceptional dedication to the revitalization of Selby Avenue for more than
2 forty-two years, and
3 WHEREAS, Merle Harris has owned and operated three business enterprises on Selby Avenue in the forty-two
4 years he has lived in Saint Paul, and
5 WHEREAS,Merle Harris has helped to found both the Inner City Youth League and the Selby Avenue Community
6 Development Corporation, and
7 WHEREAS, Merle Hazris will be honored for his commitment to the revitalization of Selby Avenue at the Selby
8 Selebration on Saturday, September 14, 1996,now
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Saint Paul City Council does hereby proclaim that Saturday,
10 September 14, 1996 is Merle Harris Day in Saint Paul.
