3 WHEREAS, Mervyn's California has a strong tradition as a community-minded retailer offering excellent
4 values in apparel and home fashions for the entire family, and;
5 WI�REAS, for the past five decades,the Dayton Hudson Foundation- on behalf of its operating divisions,
6 Mervyn's California, Target, Dayton's, Hudson's and Marshall Field's - has contributed more than $350
7 million to local arts and social action programs nationwide, and;
8 WHEREAS, Mervyn's California's newest store in the Midway officially opens October 13, employing
9 nearly 2001oca1 workers and serving the diverse needs of the Midway and Saint Paul neighborhoods, and;
10 WHEREAS, Mervyn's California continues to be an active member of the Twin Cities community,
11 building long-lasting relationships with local schools, non-profit agencies and businesses.
12 THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED, in celebration of the grand opening of Mervyn's California's
13 newest store in the Twin Cities, and a great addition to Midway Marketplace, the Saint Paul City Council
14 hereby declares October 13, 1996 as Mervyn's California Day in Saint Paul and sends congratulations
15 and best wishes to store team leader A. J. Thomas and all team members.
