In 1996 the City received a Safe & Sober Grant of $45,000 to put police officers on the street on an overtime basis to combat these problems. The program has been a success. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is offering a $30,000 grant for Safe & Sober 1997. ADVANTAOEH IF APPROVED: Approximately 800 additional traffic enforcement hours on the street resulting in hundreds of contacts, hundreds of traffic tags and dozens of arrests.
