1 WHEREAS,the department of Housing and Urban Development(HUD)awarded the City of
2 Saint Paul a grant in the amount of$1,069,750, and
3
4 WHEREAS, $694,589 has been allocated to the Saint Paul Police Department for the purpose of
5 funding the ACOP(A Community Oriented Policing)program for calender year 1997,and
6
7 WHEREAS,the local match requirements are being met through in-kind contributions from the
8 Saint Paul Police Department, and
9
10 THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that the City of Saint Paul accept the HUD award of
11 $694,589 far the continuation of the ACOP program.

The Saint Paul Police Department has been awarded a grant by HUD, through the Public
Housing Agency to continue A Community Oriented Policing (ACOP) program. This grant
award will fund ACOP through 1997. This new grant will allow continuation of these
successful services which strive to eliminate drug use in Public Housing Developments.
ADVANTAOES IF APPROVED:
If approved, these funds will ensure the continuation of a program which has been proven
successful, since it's implementation in 1990. A true community policing program ACOP
has established a police presence in the Public Housing Communities to assist the citizens
with a myriad of services.
