1 WHEREAS, from time to time it is necessary to declare zoo
2 animals surplus, to find the best location for them, and
3 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council, upon recommendation of
4 the proper City officials desires to declare the following
5 surplus, now therefore be it :
6 RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are authorized and
7 directed to execute a written agreement with Florida' s Gulfarium,
8 Ft . Walton Beach, FL for the sale of two (2) black-footed
9 penguins (1466 and 1669) , and it is further
10 RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are authorized and
11 directed to execute a written agreement with an appropriate
12 zoological organization for the sale of two (2) emperor tamarins
13 (2077 and 2079) , and it is further
14 RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are authorized and
15 directed to execute a written agreement with an appropriate
16 zoological organization for the sale of two (2 ) African lions
17 (2094 and 2095) , and it is further
18 RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are authorized and
19 directed to execute a written agreement with an appropriate
20 zoological organization for the sale of one (1) DeBrazza' s monkey
21 (2033) , and it is further
22 RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are authorized and
23 directed to execute a written agreement with an appropriate
24 zoological organization for the sale of three (3) African four-
25 toed hedgehogs (2055, 2056, 2057, and 2058)

Attached are a Council Resolution and a Green Sheet regarding the above. The following are the
animals and reasons for their surplus status:
A1�TIMALS REASON FOR SURPLUS
Two (2) Black-footed penguins Relocation of two Black-footed penguins will
provide necessary space to bring in two unrelated
penguins recommended for breeding at Como Zoo
by the Penguin SSP
Two (2)Emperor tamarins Intentionally reproduced for e�ibit and subsequent
born: 21 Ju196 relocation and are not targeted as part of the zoo's
Emperor tamarin collection. Parents are going to
force these offspring out of the family group after
the middle of 1997.
Two (2)African lions Intentionally reproduced for e�ibit and subsequent
born: 11 Oct 96 relocation and are not targeted as part of the zoo's
Lion collection. Parents are going to force these
offspring out of the family group at the end of
1997.
One (1)DeBrazza's monkey Intentionally reproduced for exhibit and subsequent
born: 21 Oct 95 relocation and is not targeted as part of the zoo's
DeBrazza's monkey collection.
Three (3) African four-toed Intentionally reproduced for education and
hedgehog subsequent relocation and are not targeted as part of
the zoo's hedgehog collection
