2 WHEREAS the Saint Paul Police Department is responsible for training its new police
3 officer candidates. The current police academy has 41 recruits. It began on October 7, 1996 and
4 will conclude on January 9, 1997.

(, WHEREAS as part of this training,the Academy will be conducting training at Camp
� Ripley near Little Falls, Minnesota, from November 18 through November 22, 1996. The
g recruits and staff will be staying at Camp Ripley during this time while conducting training in
9 leadership exercises, day and night range shooting, and mobile field force. This training is
10 greatly enhanced by using the facilities at Camp Ripley.

12 WHEREAS the cost for billeting and training facilities payable to"Camp Ripley Mess
13 Fund"will not exceed $3,000.00,the cost for transportation payable to "Saint Cloud Charter Bus
14 Company"will not exceed$700.00, and the cost for meals payable to "AAFES Snack Bar"will
15 not exceed $2,700.00.

17 WHEREAS as part of the Academy training will include two days of Decision Driving
18 Course with the class divided into two segments. The first half of the class will attend on
19 December 16 and 17, 1996, and the other half will attend on December 18 and 19, 1996. The
20 total cost will not exceed$5,000.00, and will be payable to "Da.kota County Technical College."

22 NOW THEREFORE be it resolved that the City Council approves both leases, and that
23 proper city officials are authorized to execute the above agreements.
