SUBJECT:
Request waiver of code requirements or extension of time to comp2ete plans
to improve the present shared bathroom arrangement, because of fin an cial
hardship. -
APPEARANCE : Mike J. Rygh
PROCEEDINGS:
Mr. Rygh stated that the first floor contained two larger apartments ,
each with its own bathroom, but the second floor was made up of four
small apartments , each occupied by a single person, and each two units
shared one bathroom. The oniy way he could bring the building into code
compliance would be to convert down to two larger units on the secon d floor,
but this would mean a cut in monthly rental income of about $190 , not
counting the approximate $10,000 required to make �the conversion. He
said he would like to sell, but if required to sell it as a four-apartment
building, rather than six, it would be difficult to get a fair price in
relation to his inves�tment . He related that he :had made a11 repairs �isted
� in the city' s letter and had arranged for a city re-inspection.
BOARD ACTION:
Chairman Wozniak moved that a waiver be granted on the shared bathrooms ,
provided that no more than one person occupy each-. of the units on the
second floor; said waiver to run for the lifetime of the structure .
Mr. Heider seconded. MOTION CARRIED AND SO ORDERED.
