An Administrative Resolution revising the Class
Specification for the title of Transportation Assistant
in the Civil Service Rules.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate and desirable to change the Class
Specification for the title of Transportation Assistant; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended by striking from
Section 49 the Class Specification for the title of Transportation Assistant,
and by substituting in lieu thereof, the attached Class Specification for the
title of TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT.

Title of class
TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT
AESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs clerical work assisting in the
scheduling and coordinating the transportation of parochial and public
school students; and performs related duties as assigned.
Supervision Received: Works under the supervision of a unit head.
Supervision Exercised: None.
TYPICAL IIUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.
Determines eligibility for free bus tran,sportation for students.
Schedules busses.
Establishes bus routes and assigns students to each route.
Investigates requests and complaints regarding student bus transportation.
Explains busing laws to concerned parties.
Maintains records related to the busing operation.
Prepares reports and requests for reimbursement of funds.
Acts a liaison between the schools and the bus company.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Some knowledge of laws relating to school bus safety requirements and
busing programs.
Working knowledge of the Saint Paul school locations and number and type
of students.
Working knowledge of the school programs requiring transporfiation.
Working ability to deal effectively with bus companies, students, parents,
� school personnel, and the general public.
Some ability to prepare and present cost analysis studies and other
operational reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Four years' clerical experience; or one year's experience in routing,
dispatching or scheduling busses.

The Finance Committee at its meeting of August l4, 1978 took the following action:
1.. Recommended approval of the resolution on funds eligible at this time
for the diseased tree program. .
2. Recommended approval �f the resolution providing an additional appropriation
of $300,000 for Workmen's Compensation. It was further recommended the City
Attorney appear at the next meeting to provide background information on the
processing of claims.
3. Recommended approval of resolution providing supplemental appropriation of
$219,000 for computer services furnished by Ramsey County.
4. Recorrnnended approval of six personnel resolutions. (Items 5 through 10)�
5. Recommended approval of two resolutions approving collateral to protect
_ public funds. .
